About Julia
Raised by a scientist and a minister, Julia has spent her life seeking to understand the relationship between science and spirituality, as well as the underlying nature of reality--in a way that is consistent with the scientific method. Her undergraduate work was originally in physics and cosmology, but she left to attend Seminary where she became ordained as an Interfaith minister. Returning to finish her undergraduate work, she studied under philosopher Philip Clayton, at Sonoma State University. Clayton guided her in exploring the relationship between science and religion. Graduating with an interdisciplinary degree in Science and Religion, she went on to create a pioneering curriculum in Science and Spirituality at SSU for her Masters program in 2000. Included in this program, she conducted research in evolutionary biology, and attended GTU for courses in theology. During this time, she taught “Science and Ethics”, and assisted at the Conference series “Science and the Spiritual Quest”. She is self-employed in alternative health, an accomplished poet, a community activist and has been producing and facilitating talks and salons that are in the arena of science, philosophy and spirituality.
